a little bit about me:

I’ve been living in Alaska - mostly - since 1979. My first introduction to Alaska was a summer job driving tour buses back in my college days. After graduation with my Bachelor Degree in Economics and a Minor in Business Administration, I spent my first winter here and have called Alaska my home ever since.

Like so many Alaskans, I’ve been involved in camping, fishing, hiking, running, biking, and sailing.  Yup, sailing - mostly out of Seward in Resurrection Bay. Over the years I’ve contributed to the community through miscellaneous programs such as Big Brother/Big Sisters, fundraisers for MDA & the Heart Association, as well as getting involved in various political campaigns and projects.  Recently I was involved as a "Company Consultant" for two Junior Achievement Companies in one of the newest schools in the Anchorage School District.  It's a blast exposing kids to Free Enterprise, Capitalism, Entrepreneurship, Individual Initiative, and good 'ol American values! Their eyse and dreams get really big really fast.

I was born in the land-locked high desert of the southwestern U.S.  Though my mother had 3 sons & 3 daughters, I still consider myself "an only child"!!  =) My Dad was an officer in the US Military and retired after 30 years of service.  He still resides in "The Lower 48".  My mother, who passed on years ago, was for the most part a stay at home Mom.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a free enterprise work ethic.  I believe in capitalism over socialism and free markets over centrally controlled markets and big individual freedoms & responsibilities over big government provisions & restrictions.  Way back in college I decided that I would pursue a wide range of work experiences so that when I eventually settled into a career I would have much more strength, understanding and experience to draw from in my pursuit of service and success in business. My resume reflects this "rich" background with highlights in the Oil, Airline, Tourism, and Real Estate industries as well as various endeavors in Self-Employment and Business Ownership. 

I have since earned my CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) and my GRI (Graduate of the Realtor’s Institute) through the National Association of Realtors.  It all reinforces my degree in economics, my continuing education in real estate, and my expanding experiences in the industry.

Now, there are a lot of real estate agents in Anchorage. And you may think professional representation is not necessary these days with so many different companies trying to do the job of the Realtor to take their “easy big commissions” and making their attempts at a "one stop shop" concept.  This can be especially true if you’ve been in town for a while or if you’ve bought or sold several homes over the years. But to put that idea into a more realistic perspective, keep in mind that there is at least double the number of “hungry” attorneys! While a number of them are my friends, it certainly reinforces the need to have everything done correctly and timely whether you’re buying, selling, or renting.  And it is so easy to get off track these days.
